For the 2009-2010 season of the Optimist Junior Interclub Curling League, Highpoint Construction Division, hosted at the Langley Curling Club, the Board of Directors will be using a quantitative method of selection. Teams will qualify via merit points earned from past accomplishments of individual players.

How the System Works

In addition to completing the team entry form, each member of your team must fill out an individual score sheet.  The score sheet compiles data on each player's past accomplishments in four categories: Skill Awards, Playdown Events, Bonspiels and Optimist Junior Interclub Highpoint & Miller Divisions' performances.

Each accomplishment receives a predetermined number of merit points which last four years.  The most recent (i.e. last season's) accomplishments receive 100% of the merit points.  Points are then depreciated for each past year with "Year 2" points worth 75% of their original amount, "Year 3" points worth 50% and "Year 4" points worth 25%.

Each member of your team receives the same number of points regardless of the position they played. The score sheets are then added together to determine your team's total points.  The top teams, based on total points, gain entry into the Optimist Junior Interclub Highpoint Construction Division 1.  Each member of your team must complete a score sheet and submit it with your team's entry form.  Failure to do so could severely handicap your chances of gaining entry into the league.

Entry Form Rules

1. Teams are to enter with four (4) members per team.  Entries submitted with less than 4 members should advise Division 1 Manager to see if they know someone.  A fourth must be registered before the first game.

2. All team members and any spares must be eligible for junior and/or juvenile playdowns.

3. Teams must have a fully Certified Level 1 Coach (USA team coaches are exempt).

How to Complete the Individual Player Score Sheet

First, complete the player information section with your name and phone number, your Skip's name, phone number and fax, and your Coach's name, certification status, address, work, fax & home numbers and e-mail.

Second, study the Score Sheet.  Each year is broken into four sections: Skill Awards, Playdown Events,

Bonspiel Events and League.  Fill out each section in the following manner:
